Hide Columns or Rows

Sometimes it can be useful to temporarily hide columns or rows in Excel, instead of deleting and recreating them. This chapter teaches you how to do this.

Hide Column or Row

To hide a column, execute the following steps.

1. Open the accompanied Excel file.

2. To hide the Income column, click on the column D header.

3. Right click, and then click on Hide.

Hidden Column

In a similar way you can hide a row.

Unhide Column or Row

To unhide a column, execute the following steps.

1. Select the hidden column and the columns on either side of the hidden column. In this example, select column C, D and E. To achieve this, click on the column C header and drag it to column E.

2. Right click on the selected columns and then click on Unhide.

In a similar way you can unhide a row. Also note that you can hide multiple columns or rows this way. Always be sure, when unhiding columns or rows, to select the columns or rows on either side as well.
